– Strategy follows the appointment of multifamily development veteran Mitzi Jones to lead its Southeast Region
ATLANTA – August 24, 2026 – Rockefeller Group today announced a broad push into low-rise multifamily housing development in its Southeast Region, following the appointment of Mitzi Jones as Senior Managing Director and the company’s new head of Development throughout the region.
Rockefeller Group, which operates through six development regions across the country, has an active U.S. development pipeline spanning 50 projects totaling approximately 24 million square feet. Multifamily projects today account for approximately half of the company’s development portfolio, with the balance split between industrial and office projects.
In the Southeast Region, which is headquartered in Atlanta, Ms. Jones has planned an expansion into low- and mid-rise, wood-framed developments, targeting opportunities from the Carolinas to Florida and markets including Atlanta and Nashville. The product type is seen as a solution to meet growing housing demand in both established and emerging markets, delivering high-quality communities with modern lifestyle amenities.
“This company has an extraordinary history of commercial and multifamily development in major urban centers,” said Ms. Jones, who joined the company in July 2026 from Atlantic Residential. “What is less well-known in the Southeast is its success with wood-frame development in other markets such as the West and Rocky Mountain regions, and that experience and track record pair exceptionally well with our vision for growth in this region.”
The strategy builds on the company’s success with the product type – including wraps and suburban walk-ups – in markets such as Arizona and Colorado in addition to the Southeast, and benefits from Ms. Jones’ depth of experience in this sector. Over the past decade alone she has spearheaded the development of more than 7,400 residential units and mixed-use projects totaling more than $2.7 billion.
Ms. Jones’ nearly 30 years of industry experience includes leading large-scale, high-density residential and mixed-use developments, overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle from site acquisition and entitlements through design, financing and project delivery.
In the decade through 2025, Rockefeller Group completed more than 4.5 million square feet of multifamily development, delivering more than 3,500 units, including luxury condominiums and rental apartments in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Huntsville, Ala., and Atlanta. The company’s Southeast Region is under construction on Brooklyn & Church, a 460-unit, $250 million multifamily development in Charlotte, N.C., and is nearing completion of Alina, a 357-unit tower in Midtown Atlanta.
According to Ms. Jones, Rockefeller Group benefits from the strength of its balance sheet, and its ability to capitalize deals independently, or with co-development partners. The company has active development projects in 17 states totaling approximately $7.3 billion.
