– All-Electric Automaker Receives Final Approval to Locate First Long Island Service Center at Rockefeller Group’s new Crossways Logistics Center
NEW YORK, April 29, 2025 – Rockefeller Group, a leading real estate developer, owner and operator, announced today that Rivian Automotive (NASDAQ: RIVN) has received a special use permit to open the company’s first service center in Long Island. The permit finalizes the company’s 41,000-square-foot lease at the newly built Crossways Logistics Center in Woodbury.
“Rockefeller Group welcomes Rivian to Crossways Logistics Center and is confident that this newly delivered building will provide Nassau County and residents of the North Shore a convenient location to service their electric vehicles,” said Phillip Golub, Director on Rockefeller Group’s Northeast regional team. “Crossways is adjacent to the Long Island Expressway and provides easy access to all points on Long Island which made it perfect for Rivian’s needs.”
Rivian received a special use permit in March to use the industrial distribution center to service its fleet of electric vehicles. The new location will allow Rivian customers on Long Island to pick up vehicles purchased online and allow for more convenient access to servicing. The closest Rivian service location today for Long Island customers is in Brooklyn, in addition to retail spaces in Brooklyn, Meatpacking, and Westchester.
Rockefeller Group completed construction of the 145,200-square-foot Crossways Logistics Center last year, and designed the building to be divisible, accommodating multiple tenants in varying industries. The building, located at 1 Media Crossways, includes 36-foot clear heights, 54’ X 50’ column spacing, 35 dock doors with an additional 18 spaces of trailer parking, up to 30,000 square feet of office space, and 60-foot speed bays.
Cushman & Wakefield represented Rockefeller Group on the lease with Rivian and is actively marketing approximately 104,544 square feet of additional space at the building to tenants in a variety of industries.
“Crossways Logistics Center’s new construction and excellent location was what attracted Rivian to the site and we expect that will drive additional demand for the remaining space in the building,” said Nicholas Gallipoli, Managing Director, Cushman & Wakefield of Long Island Inc. “Long Island’s existing industrial inventory is dated, which makes it difficult to accommodate all the needs of companies in the market for prime logistics space today. Crossways Logistics Center allows a tenant to occupy a Class-A distribution facility in the heart of Nassau County, with distribution capabilities stretching from Suffolk and New York City’s five boroughs to New England.”
The general contractor for Crossways Logistics Center was Ronkonkoma-based Aurora Contractors, Inc. The building was designed by Ware Malcomb and the civil engineer was Huntington-based R&M Engineers.
