– Popular West Village restaurant expands with second NYC location
NEW YORK – May 4, 2026 – Rockefeller Group, the New York-based property developer and owner of 1271 Avenue of Americas in Rockefeller Center, announced today that West Village favorite L’Artusi has leased space in the building for a Midtown location. The popular Italian restaurant, known for its exceptional pasta and local neighborhood appeal, will occupy approximately 6,000 square feet with more than 5,500 square feet dedicated to the dining room and kitchen at street level.
L’Artusi opened on West 10th Street in the West Village in December of 2008, and has been consistently recognized as one of the best restaurants in New York City by major media. The new Midtown location, which is situated on 51st Street just west of Sixth Avenue, will be a larger space offering the same attention to detail, lively atmosphere and authentic Italian cuisine.
CBRE’s Eric Gelber represented the ownership in the lease transaction, along with Rockefeller Group Executive Vice President Marisa Gadlin. CBRE’s Jordan Kaplan represented L’Artusi.
“We are thrilled that L’Artusi chose 1271 for its Midtown location,” said Ms. Gadlin, Rockefeller Group’s Chief Administrative Officer and head of the company’s Core Holdings business. “The restaurant will be a terrific addition to the neighborhood and will complete the extraordinary dining experience at 1271.”
In addition to L’Artusi, 1271 is home to several of the city’s most notable restaurants, including Avra Estiatorio, Cuerno and The Capital Grille. L’Artusi plans to open in the summer of 2027. Previously, the space was occupied by Ted’s Montana Grill, which closed last month after two decades in New York.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to bring our brand of Italian dining to Midtown, and really a response to years of interest in the concept from the Manhattan community,” said Kevin Garry, L’Artusi’s Managing Partner. “We’re pleased to open next year at 1271, where there is such a high concentration of New Yorkers, office workers and visitors to serve for many years to come.”
L’Artusi is named for Pellegrino Artusi, (1820-1911) and his self-published cookbook La Scienza in Cucina e L’Arte di Mangiare Bene (The Science of Cookery and the Art of Eating Well). L’Artusi presents a modern take on traditional Italian cuisine, combining comfort and creativity.
