About the development
In 2020, Rockefeller Group and Stonebridge were selected by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to redevelop 600 Fifth Street NW, the former 360,000-square-foot WMATA headquarters in Penn Quarter. The project will modernize and expand the building, increasing its size to over 400,000 square feet, with a design by Pickard Chilton.
Scheduled for completion in 2026, 600 Fifth will feature cutting-edge office spaces, outdoor terraces, and green spaces, designed to meet the needs of today’s most discerning tenants. The redevelopment focuses on health, wellness, and workplace amenities, with goals for WELL and LEED Gold certifications.

In 2024, it secured a major pre-lease with Crowell & Moring, marking a significant milestone.
