Parkin Lee is Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Secretary of Rockefeller Group International, Inc.

Mr. Lee joined The Rockefeller Group after serving 20 years with New York Life Insurance Company, where he held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility.  Most recently he served as Managing Director and Associate General Counsel for New York Life Investment Management, LLC, a subsidiary responsible for managing the company’s general account assets as well as third-party assets totaling $250 billion.

In that capacity, he managed the Corporate Securities Investment Team, which was responsible for legal support of the corporate securities investments portfolio of New York Life, with primary focus on the private bond portfolio of approximately $19 billion, as well as transactions that leveraged in-house investment expertise to manage third-party assets, such as CDOs and private equity investment limited partnerships. His responsibilities also included supervision of corporate governance and secretarial functions and legal support for the group annuity business area.

Mr. Lee’s administrative, regulatory and transactional practice at New York Life involved many aspects of the company’s investment operations, including the preparing and complying with internal investment authorizations, and advising with respect to proposed acquisitions of mutual fund complexes and insurance companies, cash management operations, securities lending and derivatives transactions, venture capital investments, and bankruptcies, workouts and restructurings.

Mr. Lee also managed the Real Estate Investment Team and served as senior counsel for New York Life’s equity real estate advisory subsidiary.  In that role, he supervised a team that was responsible for all legal issues relating to the company's then $7 billion commercial mortgage loan portfolio, other real estate investments, landlord/tenant issues, office leases, and all other real estate matters.

His career before New York Life included service with American Express and Dewey Ballantine (now Dewey & LeBoeuf).  He began his career with General Electric’s Aircraft Engine Group, where he was a Design & Project Engineer for commercial jet engines.

Mr. Lee is an active participant in various industry and bar associations and groups. He holds a JD from New York University School of Law, an MS from the University of Cincinnati, and a BS Cum Laude from New York University in Aeronautics and Astronautics.
